The Sacred YES: Navigating in Uncharted Territory
We’re at the beginning of a wild ride on this planet. As much as we think we get how weird things are about to get, we are almost certainly underestimating it.
It’s a big task to skillfully lead in a post-truth era, a time when widely shared cultural narratives are being replaced with every shade of niche narratives labeled as the singular truth. External pressures are binding and twisting the structures we’re used to relying on. There is more noise to cut through and less space between real life and artificial creation. It takes increased resources (time, energy, attention) to carefully discern from an outside-in lens both what is accurate and where we are collectively heading. How do we make aligned and productive decisions from this shifting place, while traveling through uncharted territory?
This breakdown of the outside is inviting us inward – to root in systems of discernment that aren’t anchored to external flux and shift. We’ve entered the season of the Sacred YES – the embodied, unshakable soul-yes. This is the real and true YES that can guide us through uncharted territory.
As leaders, our personal Sacred YES is the compass that allows us to opt out of the swirl of bad information and competing interests. It lets us tune into the unspoken, misaligned motivations in a potential investor relationship that will lead to a draining dynamic, as much as it helps us to see sooner that a change in company culture is going to bring in much-needed energy/trust/creativity. The Sacred YES is our innate ability to more directly interact with the foundations of our reality, so we can build on a truly solid foundation.
What Is the Sacred YES?
The Sacred YES is not always linear or logical, and sometimes it requires leaping when others think you will surely crash. But if you’ve ever experienced that feeling of something pulling you forward with joy or deep knowing, that’s the Sacred YES. Our world has been built, over and over, by people following that tug into new territory.
The Sacred YES is not giddy or overwhelming. It’s not an emotional experience; it’s a deep knowing. It feels like yes-ness moving through all levels of your being. This YES sensation can feel like an opening up, the quieting of anxiety, energy or wakefulness flooding your system, all your muscles relaxing, and/or the sudden unlocking of many logistical pieces at once. It feels like relief.
Here’s the key part many miss: to navigate fully from the Sacred YES, day to day and moment to moment, it’s important to maintain a clear and grounded container. Without that cultivated container, it can be easy to mistake passing urges or outside influences as the true YES.
How to Experience the Sacred YES
When we are truly grounded, there is a sensation of being planted and present in the lower half of the body – feet melting into the Earth – and a mind that is able to receive information without trying to control the influx, or implications of what is appearing. No sense of rushing or tension, no swirl of thoughts. Groundedness is not just slow breathing or focus. It is a whole-system receptive alignment with flow. The grounded state allows whatever is not aligned with the system to be more easily witnessed and released, allowing the truth of the YES to become louder than anything else.
Some say that the devil is in the details. At Casa Comadres, we like to say that power moves in the nuances. What is mysterious, what is the quiet driving force, is often woven into the subtle details. When we work with seemingly basic ideas like grounding or following your Sacred YES, we’re inviting us all to uncover the master-level skills tucked away in the most foundational pieces of being an embodied human on this planet.
